How to sync your water intake with Apple Health

August 29, 2026 · 4 min read

Apple Health is where your iPhone keeps the whole picture of you — steps, sleep, workouts, and yes, water. When Quenched is connected to it, hydration stops being an island: every drink you log shows up in Health next to everything else, and water you log anywhere else flows back into Quenched. One habit, one source of truth.

Setup takes about thirty seconds. Here's the full walkthrough, plus what two-way sync actually does and how to pause or disconnect it later.

Why bother syncing?

Connect Apple Health in Quenched

If you connected Health during onboarding, you're already done — skip to the next section. Otherwise:

  1. Open Quenched and go to Settings.
  2. Scroll to the Apple Health section and tap Connect Apple Health.
  3. iOS shows the Health permission sheet. Turn on both read and write access for water, then tap Allow.

That's it. The section now shows a Sync with Apple Health toggle, switched on, and Quenched begins importing any water already in Health.

Tip: grant both directions. Read-only means Quenched can see other apps' water but your logs never reach Health; write-only means the opposite. Two-way is where the magic is.

What two-way sync does

From the moment you connect:

All of this happens on your device. Health data is read and written locally by the app — it never touches our servers, because there aren't any to touch. No account, no cloud middleman.

Pausing sync without disconnecting

Want a break — say, while testing another tracker — without redoing permissions? Flip Sync with Apple Health off in Quenched's Settings. While it's paused, drinks are not saved to Apple Health and water from other apps is not imported, on both iPhone and Apple Watch. Everything already in Health stays exactly as it is, Quenched keeps your full history, and you can turn syncing back on anytime.

Revoking access entirely

Health permissions belong to iOS, not to Quenched, so revoking them happens in Apple's settings: open the Health app → your profile picture → AppsQuenched, or go to iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Quenched. Turn off whichever direction you like. If you later change your mind, Quenched's Settings will show a Health Access Is Off row that points you back to the right place.
